Welcome to today's entry in the "Can't we all just get along?" file. Yes, today finds the Republic of Georgia and Russia at something resembling war over something called "South Ossetia"...which is sort of like Maine and New Hampshire lobbing mortars at one another over Dover. OK...quick, can ANYONE out there tell me what South Ossetia is all about and why it's being fought over? Hmm...d'ya think oil might have something to do with it??
Yes, I realize that people are dying, and this is no laughing matter. Even so, I never cease to marvel over the things that nations will fight over. South Ossetia? Isn't that a landfill on the Jersey shore??
South Ossetia...yet another place Americans couldn't find on a map if their lives depended on it. And Georgia? No, we're not talking about the one that borders Florida, 'kay?
