Paybacks are a real b---h, no?

Fishbowl DC has been keeping tabs of which media outlets have been allowed to ask a question at President-elect Barack Obama's five press conferences so far. They report Fox News is 0-5. "Questions instead went to such outlets as ABC, New York Times, CBS, Reuters and the Associated Press."

"Fox News shut out again at Obama press conference". I don't know about you, but the idea of Faux News Channel being served frequent and healthy helpings of humble pie kinda brings a smile to my face. Hey, it's not like FNC is about journalism, and they haven't been for some years now. If there's a bigger oxymoron than "Fair and balanced", then I haven't seen it. If you're a knuckle-dragging, Amerika uber Alles knee-jerk Conservative, then, yes, I suppose FNC might seem fair and balanced. If you happen to have anything resembling an open mind and a willingness to think critically, you'll no doubt have long since been aware of what a joke FNC has become over the years.

Given the hyper-partisan fearmongering and race baiting that FNC is famous for, it should really come as no surprise that FNC hacks have been shut out of press conferences. You see, press conferences are usually for journalists...you know, reporters who traffic in facts and reality, not fear, ignorance, and the pursuit of Roger Ailes' far-right agenda. With any luck, FNC will go 0-for-the-next-eight-years. Look, any "news" organization that counts hacks like Sean Hannity, Seve Doocy, Bill O'Reilly among it's stable of talking heads is not a network deserving of being taken seriously. After all, it's not without reason that Fox is often referred to as the "Republican News Network". When ideology trumps impartial journalism, and when unvarnished Right-wing advocacy and flag-waving is your stock in trade, you can't claim to be surprised when people like me call "bulls--t" on you.

I don't believe that a President Obama will be small enough to overtly discriminate against FNC. Frankly, he's going to have bigger fish to fry. Even so, one could hardly blame him for perhaps not being as accessible to FNC "journalists" as he is to journalists who actually understand the importance of trafficking in facts.

In the meantime, enjoy your time wandering in the wilderness, y'all. You've spent years reaping the wind. Perhaps it's finally time for your to reap the whirlwind.
