What do Jay Leno and the BCS have in common? They both trade in jokes.

The Bowl Championship Series computers have announced a new surprise upset winner for World War II. In a close one, the victory goes to Germany because it had better lookin' helmets. Hey, don't be stunned if the BCS geeks actually announce that reversal, then declare that the Dave Clark Five were better than the Beatles.... Adding to the hilarity is that the Big 12 has put Mobilehoma in the league title game, since it finished ahead of Texas in the BCS ratings. What this means is that two teams Texas beat by double figures -- OU and Mizzou -- will be playing for the league championship. This tells me two things: 1. Texas should drop out of the Big 12 and consider joining a more respectable organization, like the Bandidos . And 2. the Longhorns should start scheduling stronger teams than Oklahoma.

Final score: Oklahoma 0.9351, Texas 0.9223. No, that's not a typo...nor is it a joke. Well, at least it's not a joke that any Texas Longhorn fan will be laughing at. It's the joke that the BCS has foisted upon college football fans across the country. Ultimately, it's the joke that will help to crown a "national champion" that will be completely unworthy of the title because of the process the led to them being "crowned". Champions are supposed to be deciding on the field of play, not by computers and polls and voters sitting in their kitchen, tapping away at their laptop keyboard in their underwear...and yet, here we are. The only way I can charitably and fairly describe the clusterf--k that is the BCS is to call it what it is- a joke and an embarrassment.

Un-(&^%$#@-believable....

The truly sad thing is that the NCAA, who really should be thoroughly embarrassed at the mess the BCS has become, has absolutely NO incentive to make changes in the manner in which it determines a national champion. There's so much money flowing into NCAA coffers from the BCS system that it's not about the game, or the embarrassment and complete absence of credibility inherent in the BCS. It's a business deal, pure and simple...and no one in a position to demand change wants to kill or even mess with the golden goose.

On Saturday, the Big 12 Championship Game will feature two teams that Texas beat by double digits. If that doesn't speak to the illegitimacy of the current system, I don't know what else you need to be convinced.

Can we PLEASE have a playoff, so that a Division I champion is determined in the same way that every other NCAA football division is- ON THE FIELD? Or do you like having these stupid, pointless debates?
