Welcome to Texas!! Please check your ability to reason and your grip on reality at the door.

The Texas House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on a resolution this week that honors former President George W. Bush.... "The Bush administration met numerous foreign policy challenges, while also making constructive progress in relations with India and sustaining a solid relationship with China," the resolution reads, according to the Austin Statesman. It adds that Bush "lived each day with the safety and prosperity of his fellow citizens foremost in his mind; he took a principled stance on a wide range of issues of great importance to every American, and his tireless efforts will not soon be forgotten."

It's been said by many (myself included) that Americans get exactly the quality of leadership they deserve. There are few places in this great land where that is more true than Texas. Sadly, it seems that Texans deserve- and more often than not get- leadership that's clueless, aggressive ignorant, and possessed of a high degree of self-important religiosity. How else can you explain the Texas Legislature seriously voting on a resolution that would honor The Worst President EVER ©?. I mean, how can you seriously contemplate honoring a man who ignored pre-9.11 intelligence that might (emphasis on "might") have save 3,000 innocent Americans from horrific deaths on a beautiful September Tuesday morning? Who displayed an almost monomaniacal disregard for the rule of law? Who lied, prevaricated, cheated, and propagandized his way into an illegal and immoral war of aggression that in six years has sent more than 4,000 of our sons and daughters home from Iraq in flag-draped boxes?

How can you even consider honoring a man who left this nation's economy in far worse shape than he found it? Whose incompetence and almost criminal ineptitude has left President Barack Obama the equivalent of a salvage mission, with the White House staff looking more like the crew of a garbage scow than workers at the most powerful address in the world. With the new Obama Administration having to face the reality of being forced to clean up the mess left behind by the thugs from BushWorld, "change" is taking a back seat to mere survival. This represents "leadership" worth honoring and commemorating?

After living in Texas for 10 years and observing the insane asylum that passes for the Texas Legislature, I'm not surprised that they would seriously think that Captain Codpiece © "lived each day with the safety and prosperity of his fellow citizens foremost in his mind." After all, rabid, lockstep ideological fealty is highly prized among the uber-Christian zealots who run the Texas GOP as their private fiefdom. George W. Bush, a miserable excuse for a leader- never mind a human being- is one of them...and the nutjobs tend to look after their own.

Man, I do NOT miss living in Texas...but I surely do miss Texas politics. A more clueless collection of Looney Tunes would be hard to find.

I'd like to say that Texans deserve better...but they brought this sorry mess on themselves. I'm not in the business of providing sympathy where none is warranted.
