What would Jesus eat?

Twice in as many years, locals have pulled Jesus out of their Cheetos bags. First, it was Steve Cragg, a youth minister at Memorial Drive United Methodist, who was munching on the cheesy snack when he pulled out a Cheeto in the shape of Jesus praying. He named it "Cheesus." Most recently, Jesus appeared to Sara Bell from Preston Hollow. She found the Jesus-look-alike in a bag of Cheetos her husband bought in Jersey Village.

OK, so I understand the significance of unexplained phenomena and the need to explain the unexplainable. Really, though; can we PLEASE lose the "I found Jesus in a bag of [insert name of designated snack food here]" silliness? Might it just be possible that your "Baby Cheesus" might just be a coincidence designed by some cosmic comedian to (&^% with you? And it's working??

IF God (however you might choose to define her) was inclined to use silly gestures to make her presence known to those of us not blessed with the gift of faith, don't you think that the chosen mode of expression would be something with more gravitas than a bag of Cheetos? No, I'm not saying that I'd only take this seriously if the face of Jesus appeared in a tub of Beluga caviar, but where does the silliness end? And why do these things invariably end up being sold on eBay? Are we talking about manifestations of the Almighty...or just another way for someone to make a few bucks off someone's astonishing ignorance?

No, I don't think there's any great mystery as to where I'll come down on that question, eh?

And why is it that this sort of thing always seems to happen in Texas? Just a thought....

Then again, the cereal in the bottom of my bowl looks an awful lot like...nah, that can't be.... ;-)
