For their God is a vindictive, mean-spirited, intolerant SOB

Psalm 109:8 Let his days be few; [and] let another take his office.

Psalm 109:9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

I've grown tired of the idiocy, the lies, and the sheer lunacy manifested in this country since Barack Obama took office. No, it's not as if the wackjobs sprang to life once an African-American and...GASP!!!...a Democrat took the Oath of Office, but neither have they crawled back under their rocks, either. The latest iteration of the "Barack Obama is Evil Incarnate" theme is that of Right-wing Christians using Psalm 109:8,9 as what can only be interpreted as a thinly-veiled call for assassinating a democratically-elected President. Now, I'm not an attorney, but when last I checked, calling for the assassination of a President is a federal crime. No, no one's coming out directly calling for violent revolution directed at assassinating the President and installing a Conservative Theocracy...but can there be any doubt as to what the bottom line is? As long as media outlets like Newsmax, Town Hall, Fox Noise Channel, and the Washington Times devote column inches and air time to people who espouse thinly-disguised sedition, there will be those those who feel that they're doing the Lord's work.

Free speech, as I've said repeatedly, can be and often is offensive speech. The problem is that the First Amendment does not protect the "right" to call, however obliquely, for assassinating a democratically-elected President. That these zealots call themselves "Christians" is embarrassing enough. That good and decent Christians aren't roundly condemning those who would use a perfectly good religion as cover for advocating violent revolution is just plain wrong. These zealots are using their faith and the Bible as cover for their desire to force their narrow, hateful beliefs down our collective throat. If you doubt that the ultimate goal here isn't to create the Christian equivalent of the Taliban, then you're simply not paying attention. This may be a (majority) Christian nation, but that was never meant to imply that this is a nation of, by, and for the Christian Right. And it was certainly never meant to justify advocating for the assassination of a democratically-elected President.

WE DESERVE BETTER.
