Just when thought they couldn't possibly become any sillier or more juvenile....

House Democrats on Sunday were greeted with a particularly partisan, somewhat juvenile sight when they took their seats inside the chamber. On several of their chairs were fliers warning them that if they happened to pass health care reform that night — which they did — it would result in a repeat of the 1994 midterm election, which became known as the Republican Revolution.

At this point, I suppose it’s probably just a wee bit too much to expect Republicans in Congress to act like adults, but when I reflect on this silly stunt, the words “sore losers” come to mind. After a full year of lies, propaganda, pissing, and moaning like scared bullies, THIS is the best Republicans can come up with? Putting fliers on the chairs of Democrats who would vote for health care reform? How desperate do you have to be in order to resort to such childish junior high tactics such as this?

Sure, I suppose it’s possible that we could see a repeat of the 1994 midterm elections. Then again, it’s possible that I could be elected Queen of England in November. The only alternative Republicans had to offer was screaming “NO!!” at every opportunity, and engaging in so much lying, propaganda, and obstructionism that it’s a wonder that any of them have anything resembling a moral compass in their black, dishonest hearts.

Hey, y’all…here’s an idea. You’ve spent the last year or so attempting to propagandize, scare, and confuse Americans with your lies and obstructionism. Now that you’ve lost, how about thinking about the good of the country for once? How about putting the welfare of America ahead of concern for your party’s future political prospects…which, I’ve got to say, aren’t exactly sparkling these days?

Of course, asking the GOP to put their country first is not unlike asking a leopard to change its spots. Self-interest and self-preservation are the unofficial GOP mottoes, so asking them to act in conflict with their true nature is nonsensical, no?

WE DESERVE BETTER.
