I’m not in the mood for this today. I’m tired of people telling me that they’re offended by my opinions, as if my right to express myself ends when it impacts their tender sensibilities. Anyone who’s been reading this blog for the past nine years knows that I have some very strong opinions. Nonetheless, they’re only opinions, not my attempt to insult, degrade, or denigrate anyone.
I wish that I could find a way to get past this, but at the moment I’m tired of being judged and found wanting because I have the temerity to express opinions that some folks disagree with. I don’t set out to offend, but neither am I going to back down from what I think and feel. As a reader, you’re free to agree or disagree…that’s what free speech is all about. I’m growing tired of those who think that, because they’re offended by my opinions, I have no right to traffic in anything that upsets their sensibilities.
If you don’t agree with my opinions, if my writing upsets or offends you, then I have a very simple solution for you: go somewhere else. It’s not as if I have a large fan base that I can afford to squander, but I do have some very strong opinions, and this is my forum. While I’m constantly thinking about how I can improve on what I do, I try to honestly express what I’m feeling. Apparently, that’s too much for some folks…and today I’m sick to death of it.
