HAYDEN, Idaho — A white separatist drew complaints from neighbors and a visit from law enforcement officers after building a snowman shaped like a member of the Ku Klux Klan on his front lawn. Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies told Mark Eliseuson Wednesday that he could be charged with a crime because the 10-foot-tall snowman was holding what appeared to be a noose. Deputies were called by neighbors who were appalled by the pointy-headed snowman with two dark eyes.
I’m not certain what it says about our world when even the snow men are burdened with political overtones. Then again, this is Idaho we’re talking about, where White makes Right…and it doesn’t get much whiter than a snow man, eh?
These days, when it seems so much easier to find reasons to hate, how sad is it when someone is so addled by prejudice that he would do something like this? Then again, Eliseuson is the same person who flies Aryan flags on his property and passed out bullet casings at Halloween when he ran out of candy.
May he find nothing but coal in his stocking on Christmas morning….
