Not-so-thinly-veiled racism used to be fun. Now, it's like they're not even trying.

Time was when the rank hypocrisy and racism on Fox Noise Channel was the stuff of legend. I may not have agreed with it; I may have in fact deplored it, but there’s no denying that FNC was the standard by which all zealots and racists measured their work. The talking heads at FNC set the bar so high that an aspiring racist had no realistic hope of surpassing their work. The best one could reasonably hope for was to be mentioned in the same breath as such luminaries as Sean Hannity and Megyn Kelly. Even then, no one harbored any reasonable hope of amassing anything approaching the impressive body of work produced by Fox Noise Channel. Nay, when it came to racism, clueless White Folks engaging in faux righteous outrage, and hypocrisy, FNC set a standard that other racists and misogynists could only dream of approaching.

Somewhere along the line, though, things changed. Maybe racism and hypocrisy became such a common fact of life on the airwaves at FNC that it lost all excitement and challenge. At some point, it’s like the Aryan talking heads just stopped trying. It used to be that the Daily Show staff used to have to expend some effort to find clips with which to shine a light on the racism and hypocrisy that appears to be de riguer at FNC. Now, though, it’s so easy to find the stuff that any rank amateur with a laptop and an Internet connection can do it.

IF I actually paid any attention to Fox Noise Channel, I might actually be worked up about their version of impartial “journalism.” Thankfully, I’ve found my time to be much better spent watching Anthony Bourdain re-runs and collecting dryer lint (I’m knitting a codpiece). And since the talking heads at FNC have simply stopped trying, I’m left to find other ways to more profitably spend my time.

Oh, sorry…I gotta go. Anthony Bourdain’s in Trans-Dniester, and it looks like they’re roasting a Russian infantryman on a spit.
