Man, I had NO idea Satan was on the ballot in Mississippi

Mississippi Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant, who was elected as governor yesterday, also co-chaired “Yes on 26,” the campaign to pass a “Personhood” amendment in the state, and said on Election Day that the fight over Initiative 26 was “a battle of good and evil of Biblical proportions” and warned that “Satan wins” if the initiative fails. Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association, which heavily funded the “Yes on 26” effort, warned that the country would face God’s judgment if Initiative 26 lost and urged voters to “choose life lest the flickering flame of our liberty be extinguished forever.”

I find it interesting that, instead of accepting the obvious- that Mississippi’s “Personhood Amendment” was bad policy- supporters of Measure 26 have framed their resounding defeat in terms of the forces of Evil reigning victorious. No, the ONLY possible reason that Measure 26 could have failed to carry the day could be because of the intervention of the Prince of Darkness. It doesn’t seem to have occurred to the thick-headed zealots that Measure 26 lost because it was far too extreme (and likely to lose any court challenge even if it had passed).

Measure 26 didn’t just lose; it was soundly thumped, with 58% of Mississippi voters casting the votes against it. I find it disturbing that as many as 42% voted for Measure 26…which, I suppose, only goes to show that “small government” Conservatives have no problem with taking extreme measures to ensure that women can’t exercise the silly notion that they deserve to have and exercise control over their own bodies. After all, only when women acquiesce and accept their rightful roles as sperm receptacles and the property of men will America truly be safe from those who threaten God’s Plan for Our Way of Life ©.

Now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to get back to my primary responsibility- ensuring that the Kingdom of Satan is safe for good, bleeding-heart Libruls like myself….
