Contrast the reflex demagoguery of Obama with the intellectual integrity of Congresswoman Bachmann, who remains a principled Constitutional Conservative whatever her audience.
Rarely do I feel the need to comment on comments left in response to something I’ve written. Usually, I rather enjoy comments from people who disagree with me, because they can range from the lucid and interesting to completely irrational and off-the-charts-bat$#!%-crazy. I never cease to be amazed at the diversity of thought and conviction to be found within the human race. While I generally try to give most people the benefit of the doubt, the quote above was merely the beginning to one of the sillier and more addled scribblings anyone has left in response to one of my posts. Given that I’ve been doing this for over ten years, that’s no mean feat.
The idea that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is possessed of intellectual integrity, while President Obama is a liar incapable of speaking the truth, much less stringing together complete sentences composed of original thoughts, is laughable. I don’t know the identity of the commenter, and I frankly don’t care to, but my first thought was, “And you vote??” Though I have no idea how this might be accomplished, sometimes I think there really should be a strictly-enforced minimum IQ and grip on reality requirements in order to vote. If we can require paperwork to prove our American-ness, shouldn’t we be able to require that someone isn’t reality- or intellectually-challenged? If you get their news from Fox Noise Channel and Right-wing websites…well, isn’t it about time you learned to think for yourselves? Instead of allowing Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and crew to fill your head with demonstrably inflammatory and untrue Right-wing propaganda, how about learning to formulate your own ideas and opinions? You remember ideas, right? Yeah, they’re those thoughts-with-pictures things that pop into your brain every now and again.
Here’s a news flash: you can actually think for yourself if you want to. The beautiful thing about doing so is that you’ll come off looking less drone-like than someone who’d leave a comment like the one above. You don’t have to agree with me in order to have a valid opinion, but being grounded in something resembling reality certainly doesn’t hurt.
If Michele Bachmann is a principled anything (other than a demagogue, I suppose), then I’m the Queen of England…and I HATE Corgis….
To whomever left the above comment I have but one simple request: please, for the love of God, country, and all that’s good and holy, turn in your voter registration card. Do it now. Your country will thank you. Lord knows I will.
