Today's example of (not exactly) Conservative Christian tolerance

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

TN State representative Rick Womick (R-Hooterville)

In the interview, which took place on Veterans Day, Womick told ThinkProgress that “I don’t trust one Muslim in our military” and “if they truly are a devout Muslims, and follow the Quran and the Sunnah, then I feel threatened because they’re commanded to kill me.” When asked if Muslims should be forced out of the military, Womick responded “Absolutely, yeah.”

I never cease to be amazed by “Christians” so ignorant, hateful, and intolerant that they can’t even recognize their bastardization of the teachings of Jesus they profess to revere. In the case of Rep. Womick, the assumption that the mere fact of being a Muslim makes you ipso facto a threat to good, God-fearing, REAL Americans is as offensive as it is reprehensible and typical of those who default to hate over love and tolerance.

Interesting how closed minds never come packaged with closed mouths, eh? Not only does Womick not understand the first thing about Islam (and the reality that most American Muslims just want to peacefully practice their faith), he clearly doesn’t understand the basic teachings of his own religion. Of course, he’s a Conservative Republican, which qualifies him as an expert theologian.

I could devote a lot of time, energy, and brain cells to deconstructing Womick’s intolerance, ignorance, and arrogance, but why bother? Just watch the video and let the stupid wash over you.

Yes, ‘tis better to be thought a fool and a bigot than to be Rick Womick and remove any lingering doubt….
