Better to be thought a fool and a bigot than to be James Lafferty and remove any lingering doubt

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

James Lafferty

The Conservative Political Action Conference panel “Islamic Law in America: How the Obama Justice Department Is Selling Us Out,” featured numerous anti-Muslim speakers including Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, Ilaria Pantano and James Lafferty of the Virginia Anti-Sharia Task Force. Lafferty, whose wife Andrea runs the Traditional Values Coalition, dedicated his speech to his activism against mosques in his community and a Muslim Republican’s candidacy for the state House of Delegates.

There are few activities in this great nation that point out the beauty of the 1st Amendment more than the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). CPAC is where the ignorami, knuckle-draggers, and closet racists go to enjoy people who think (if that’s what it can be called) in the same Neanderthal manner they do. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times- free speech can be, and very often is, offensive and ignorant speech. Nowhere is that theory proven and re-proven repeatedly quite like it is at CPAC, which, if you think about it for any length of time (and I try not to), is basically a big ol’ Conservative circle jerk. Think about it; a collection of like-minded, ignorant bigots gather under the same roof and spend a weekend reinforcing each other’s ignorance and bigotry. You have Ann Coulter spewing her smug, arrogant, pseudo-intellectual hatred of anyone who dares to not think and believe as she does. You have Andrew Breitbart (a waste of humanity if ever there was one) screaming incoherently at Occupy protesters. When you have nothing positive to add the the public discourse, it looks a lot like CPAC.

And then you have James Lafferty…and I don’t even know where to begin. Lafferty is convinced that the Obama Administration is facilitating the introduction and insinuation of Sharia in America. He’s proud that most of the mosques in the south have been attacked. He’s also proud of being one of the pinheads who drive trucks into mosques. Evidently, to Lafferty’s way of thinking, freedom of religion applies only to Conservative White Christians. If you ain’t got Jesus, you ain’t $#!#.

I don’t hate God, but it’s hard to ignore the reality that a sizable portion of Her fan club are ignorant, brain-dead pinheads.

I’d say that CPAC, and Conservatives in general, should be ashamed to allow Lafferty and those who think like him a platform, but that presupposes that these folks are capable of shame. Judging by some of the meaningless, pointless, and beyond hateful crap that oozed from this edition of CPAC, I’m not certain shame is even part of their vocabulary.

Interesting how Lafferty and his fellow haters insist that all Muslims are terrorists while refusing to acknowledge the terrorists on their side. If Timothy McVeigh, Eric Rudolph, Paul Hill, and Scott Roeder aren’t terrorists, I’m not certain who would be.

Remember, if a Muslim does it, they’re the worst sort of anti-Christian, America-hating Islamofascists imaginable. If a Christian does it, they’re a brave, selfless defender of the faith. Any questions??
