You have to put in a lot of effort to make stuff up...and I just don't work that hard

Chic C’est La Vie: France Set to Legalize Gay Marriage and Adoption: I long for the day when this sort of news is considered neither newsworthy nor controversial, merely people in loving, committed relationships doing what people in loving, committed relationships do.

Really, people; in a world when all of us are seemingly stretched to something close to the breaking point, how is it that so many of you can find the time and energy to hate people whom you clearly can’t be bothered to understand? How does someone else’s marriage threaten yours? And if your marriage is threatened by the concept of same-sex marriage, you’d best hie thee to a marriage counselor forthwith, knowhutimean??

10 Reasons Most People Like Obamacare Once They Know What’s Really In It: Whodathunkit? It turns out that most Americans are malleable sheep with the attention span and critical thinking skills of a raccoon. Most Americans are far more comfortable and familiar with reacting emotionally as opposed to thinking critically.

The sad part is that ignorance and inattention is no obstacle to voting. Hmm…that would explain George W. Bush, wouldn’t it??

Voter ID law may affect more Pennsylvanians than previously estimated. If Democrats came up with a scheme to disenfranchise 9.2% of potential Republican voters, the Right would (not unjustifiably) be working themselves into a furious, angry lather over the injustice of it all. Yet Republicans attempt to do the same thing to minorities and the poor- a traditionally Democratic constituency- and they justify it as “protecting electoral integrity.”

Hey, if y’all were meant to vote, you would have been born Republican (and White).

5 Reasons America Is Not — And Has Never Been — a Christian Nation: If you’ve read the Constitution, you know that America is not- and never has been or will be- a Christian nation. It was intended by the Founders to be a secular nation where people could freely indulge the faith of their choice (or not). Today, the vast majority of Americans identify as Christian, but that does not ipso facto make this a Christian nation…not that the Christian majority isn’t doing their part to treat non-Christians as second-class citizens.

Saudi sets rules for first women Olympic competitors: Hey, who says women aren’t property? Besides, if you allow women ANY freedom they might begin thinking for themselves and acting in their own best interests…and Lord knows the Saudis couldn’t stand for that to happen.

Video: Romney campaign fails at charts: If the Romney campaign can’t even get their act together long enough to properly employ a chart, how can we assume that a Romney administration will be anything resembling competent?

Romney’s already established himself as a committed, shameless, and inveterate liar. This is how he plans to convince Americans that he’s the man to lead this country back to The Shining City on a Hill ©??

Woman Who Flees Accident Scene Gives The Old “Melting Ice Cream” Excuse: Yeah, I know the guy was bleeding to death in the middle of the street after I ran him over, but did you expect me to let my three scoops of Chunky Monkey go to waste??

Melissa Harris-Perry’s Awesome 4th of July Address: Imperialism, Genocide, and Slavery: Sorry, y’all; I hate to burst your cone of propaganda here, but this will come as a shock to you: this country wasn’t built by the White Man. It was built largely by those the White Man subjugated and forced to do the heavy lifting for him.

I realize that doesn’t fit with the Tea Party/Fox News Channel/White Makes Right view of history, but it’s the truth…and it’s time that we recognized it.

Apple’s Retail Army, Long on Loyalty but Short on Pay: So you’re educated, motivated, intelligent, passionate, dedicated to providing excellent customer service…and underpaid, mistreated, and overworked. The odds are pretty good that you work in an Apple retail store.

Selling thousands upon thousands of Apple products, thus enriching the company and its shareholders…all while making around $11.25 an hour? Some (myself among them) might call that exploitation.
