America could be so much better, if only we treated Libruls like the pond scum they are

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Ben Shapiro and Erik Rush

When Editor-At-Large of Breitbart News, Ben Shapiro, shows up on Glenn Beck’s radio program to promote his new book, “Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences Americans,” what do you think they talk about? Why, the need for “civility” of course! Shapiro claimed that groups like Media Matters colluded with the White House in weekly meetings where they plotted strategy on how to destroy Beck by monitoring his program in order to find clips they could take out of context and then use to target his advertisers and ultimately drive him off the air…. “These are not pro-First Amendment people,” said Shapiro. “These are not pro-free speech people. These are not pro-civility people. They’re not civil and we have to stop treating them as though civility is going to win the day … The moral high ground doesn’t do us a lot of good when we’re fighting people who are absolute thugs.”

I’ll own up to the reality that I haven’t always been as kind to Conservatives as one might expect. Still, I think I’ve made every reasonable effort to refrain from indulging in cheap personal insults and name-calling as a means to camouflage the fact that I have no real argument. The same cannot be said for Ben Shapiro, the Andrew Breitbart acolyte views personal insults and unfounded, mean-spirited accusations as legitimate debate tactics.

It would be easy- far too easy- to argue that, like his mentor, Shapiro is an impotent waste of humanity, but that would entail me arguing on his level. Given his argument that the Right needs to stop treating Liberals with civility…well, sometimes you really don’t need to point out how facile and ill-mannered someone is, not when they’re willing to do the heavy lifting for you.

Interesting how Shapiro seems to lack the self-awareness to recognize that he’s describing himself and his own disdain of facts and reason, isn’t it? It’s SO much easier when you can demean and demonize your ideological doppelgangers…because formulating and elucidating a defensible argument is a lot of damn work, knowhutimean??

Again, this was Glenn Beck and the Editor-At-Large of Breitbart News claiming that other people are uncivil and therefore undeserving of being treated with civility.

Really; project much? Evidently, hypocrisy and an epic lack of self-awareness are considered virtues on Planet Breitbart. I’d have to think that somewhere in Hell, Andrew Breitbart is smiling, secure in the knowledge that his childish, immature brand of “gotcha” journalism is in good hands. If you don’t believe me, just Google Ben Shapiro. He’s every bit the snide knuckle dragger his mentor was.

Well played, sir….

Aside from the political and economic upheaval that is now taking place, aspects of the deleterious cultural transformation have become quite surreal. Transvestites, vulgarity, foul-mouthed children, promiscuity, criminality and other forms of sociopathy now permeate our broadcast airwaves…. The determination with which liberals are now advancing economic imprudence, immoderation, immorality, intolerance, racism and deviance simply boggles the mind. Even pedophilia is apparently on the table. This creates cognitive dissonance because it represents a culture of death (perhaps this also explains liberals’ affinity for Islam). Those who question the wisdom of this cultural descent are attacked as being bigoted, and these attacks - particularly against the religious - have become far more vicious.

And then there’s Erik Rush, who by all indications couldn’t carry on a reasoned, rational exchange of ideas without it devolving into crass name-calling and cheap personal insults. Despite recent history and all evidence to the contrary, Liberals aren’t responsible for the ills facing our world. Rush’s affinity for conflating all the “bad” and “evil” things he sees in modern American cultural into Liberal constructs is as amusing as it is dishonest and disingenuous.

Rush represents a world view bathed in black (evil) and white (good); those he sees as representing and advancing the cause of evil- that would be Libruls, of course- are deserving only of being destroyed. And Rush means to do everything within his considerable powers to destroy Libruls.

Evidently, only a committed Dominionist Theocrat like Rush is capable of determining what is good and worthy. That which doesn’t meet with his approval by all rights should be destroyed by any means necessary…and any good Christian American patriot knows what “any means necessary” means.

As in Shapiro’s case, there appears to be an epic lack of self-awareness, not to mention world-class arrogance and self-righteousness, in play here. In Rush’s absolutist world, you either agree with his view of the world, or your an evil, inhuman Librul worthy only of being crushed under the boot heels of those who, like him, are tasked to defend Liberty, Virtue, and Truth.

Yeah, it really is easier when the objects of my derision engage in their own flavor of self-parody; it means there’s a whole lot less work for me to do. I can just sit back and chuckle while ignorant, self-absorbed, and self-righteous sorts like Shapiro and Rush hoist themselves on their own petards.
