Another reason why every day is Gun Appeciation Day

STOCKTON - Two men were shot in the leg Thursday night in unrelated incidents, while a third man accidentally shot himself in the leg and ended up being arrested by police on weapons charges.

In the first incident at 10:50 p.m., police reported a 46-year-old man was walking near Sutter and First streets when he was accused by the suspect of kicking rocks on him. An argument ensued and the victim tripped, then heard a loud pop and realized he had been shot in the leg. The suspect, described as a Latino man between 40 and 45 with black hair last seen wearing a gray jacket and gray beanie, fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Less than an hour later in the 2000 block of East Church Street, Julio Zuniga, 27, admitted to police he accidentally shot himself in the leg. His gun was recovered, he was treated at a hospital for his injury and then booked into jail on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm and other weapons charges, police reported.

Around 12:25 a.m. Friday, a couple was walking near Center Street and Harding Way when a gunshot rang out, and the man realized he had been shot in the leg. He flagged down a passing motorist who took him to an area hospital for treatment. Police reported there was no description of a suspect.
