Pearland police are still looking for a man who robbed the Comfort Suites motel on March 30.
About 4 a.m. that day, the man entered the motel office at 2807 Miller Ranch Road and demanded money from the clerk, police said in a news release.
He was carrying what police described as a large black revolver with wood grips.
The robber went around the counter and forced the clerk to open the cash drawer. As he grabbed about $400, the clerk ran to a storeroom and locked herself in, the release said.
In his haste to leave, the robber jumped over the counter and his gun discharged, shooting out the glass in the lobby doors.
The shooting was apparently accidental, department spokesman Lt. Onesimo Lopez said by email.
The clerk was shaken up but was not hurt, the release said.
It’s unknown if the suspect had a vehicle parked in the area. He is described as about 5 feet 8 with short hair, possibly in his mid- to late-20s.
The clerk told officers it appeared the robber had not shaved in a couple days. She also said the man was very calm and spoke in a low, mumbling voice.
