Dianne Feinstein says there’s no place for violence in the NFL

Let that wash over you for a moment. Nowhere in the article is Sen. Feinstein quoted saying those words, which leads me to one of two possible conclusions:

1) Someone is heavily invested in casting the Senator in the worst possible light, or

2) Raw Story employs a headline writer who really is Just. That. Stupid. And/or sexist.

The money shot from the short article was this:

Women of the U.S. Senate have taken notice and will speak up about how the National Football League has handled domestic abuse cases involving its players, a leading lawmaker said on Sunday….

“I think I can speak for all the women in the Senate by saying we’re surprised, amazed, and very resolute to do something about it,” California Senator Dianne Feinstein said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

OK, that seems harmless enough. Sen. Feinstein expressed her opinion on the NFL’s domestic abuse problem, but at no time did she say “There’s no place for violence in the NFL.” Even if you’re not a football fan, you’ve got to know just how deeply absurd that statement would be…if it had in fact been made by the Senator.

In the meantime, may I suggest that Raw Story might want to be a wee bit more careful with the words it puts into the mouths of public figures. Just a thought.

The best comeback to a hyper-religious, self-righteous homophobe you'll see all day was the previous entry in this blog.

You must have been livid when George W. Bush did it with a dog is the next entry in this blog.
