More great moments in religious freedumb

The wingnuts and zealots and fundies have always been among us, of course. Perhaps it’s just that there are so many more sources of information available that magnifies the silliness. Whatever it may be, the over the top hyper-religiosity and grandiose sense of self-righteousness and self-superiority is if nothing else highly entertaining. Do these idjits REALLY believe what comes out of their pie holes? Or is it just a poorly camouflaged attempt to garner attention and- even more importantly- money? Who knows? Or cares? For our purposes, the reasons don’t really matter…because they’re not nearly as entertaining as the end product.

Happy Sunday, then…and don’t say I never give you anything.

Georgia pastor defends death to gays sign: Don’t change marriage for ‘people who deserve not to live’: Because God is Love. Or something like that. My Sunday School days may have been long ago, but I don’t recall being taught that Jesus preached about killing LGBT people because of who and how they love. I’d wonder if this sorry excuse for humanity, if he’s going to go Old Testament on us, is still eating shellfish and wearing clothes of mixed fibers?

Atheist mom gets death threats over school Bible complaints — but Christians claim they’re the victims: When you’re daughter’s “a devil worshipping lesbian transvestite whore,” what else could you expect? And of course Christians are victims…because as any good, God-fearing, Christian, heterosexual patriot will tell you, denying a Christian their God-given right to discriminate against unbelievers, gays, Liberals, and Packers fans anyone else who doesn’t think, believe, live, and love as they do is the WORST sort of discrimination imaginable.

Glenn Beck Predicts Massive Anti-Christian Persecution If SCOTUS Legalizes Gay Marriage: It’s gotta be tough be part of a persecuted majority, knowhutimean? And the “persecution” Christians have been directing at non-Christians and the LGBT community over the years? Yeah, it’s not persecution if you doing it in the name of Christianity.

Texas GOP lawmaker: ‘What is going on in Baltimore’ is because of too many gay marriages: That’s like saying that obesity is caused by too much peppermint tea. I’m sure Teh Gayz are touched that so many think them to be so all-powerfully malevolent.

Bachmann: Rapture Imminent Thanks To Gay Marriage & Obama: Thanks a lot, Obama!

Missouri Satanist: 72-hour waiting period for abortions violates my ‘sincerely held religious beliefs’: Despite what some members of the majority religion might believe, “religious freedom” isn’t the purview and exclusive property of Christians.

‘Hobby Lobby on steroids’: House votes to overturn DC law so employers can fire women for using birth control: How much longer will it be before employers will be able to require employees to attend their church and follow their religion? Perhaps sooner than you think.

Evangelical pastors descend on Las Vegas to learn to motivate Christians to vote: Because not only do Christians need to be motivated to vote, they must also be motivated to vote correctly- i.e.- not for some godless Liberal who hates Jesus and America but loves Teh Gayz. They’ll also be learning how to push a Conservative political agenda from the pulpit while also keeping their church’s tax-exempt status; no hypocrisy here, people!
