Now you know that the gun lobby truly elevates gun rights over human life

Conservatives are firing up the outrage machine over news that country music superstar Tim McGraw will headline a benefit concert for Sandy Hook Promise, an anti-gun violence group organized following the 2012 elementary school shooting that left 26 dead…. In a statement to the press praising Sandy Hook Promise, McGraw said: “Out of this tragedy a group was formed that made a promise to honor the lives lost and turn it into a moment of transformation. Sandy Hook Promise teaches that we can do something to protect our children from gun violence. I want to be a part of that promise - as a father and as a friend.”…. Conservatives seem outraged that a country singer, coming from a musical genre usually associated with “traditional values,” would perform at a concert they consider anti-gun.

It’s astonishing how far Conservatives will sometimes go to demonstrate the lack of compassion and their refusal to acknowledge anything as relevant that doesn’t blindly support their narrow, self-interested agenda. The idea that a concert to raise money for a group commemorating those killed during the Sandy Hook massacre could be seen as objectionable is itself quite objectionable. That anyone- no matter how partisan or craven- could object to a compassionate gesture of the nature being made by Tim McGraw only goes to show how thoroughly devoid of humanity ammosexuals are.

Sandy Hook Promise is not an anti-gun group, but part of their mission is working to reduce gun violence…a goal ALL Americans with a sense of decency and respect for life should be able to get behind. I’d challenge gun aficionados to actually read the Sandy Hook Promise and find something objectionable. They won’t because they can’t open themselves to charges of inhumanity, which they’ve already amply demonstrated through their unwarranted attack on McGraw.

As for the mission of Sandy Hook promise, what part of wanting to “[p]rotect children from gun violence so no other parent experiences the loss of their child” is so disgusting and offensive? Are we to believe that gun aficionados are so far gone that they expect the loss of a child to be of secondary concern to absolute, unfettered gun rights? I’m not certain I even need to answer that question; they’ve already done it.

As that wise sage Joe the Plumber once said, “Your dead kids don’t trump my gun rights.” Yep, this is what it looks like when you’re completely devoid of anything even faintly redolent of compassion and humanity.

Wow…just when you thought ammosexuals couldn’t possibly sink any further….
