Man, I can be SO naive sometimes. Here I’d been thinking that reasonable people could have a reasonable discussion/debate about gun control and the role of firearms in contemporary American culture…and then I’m reminded all over again that talking to Proudly Closed-Minded Gun Control Foes © like Marc Cohn is the equivalent of repeatedly pounding my forehead into a wall. I learn all over again that you can’t have a reasoned, rational discussion with those who are every bit as unreasonable as they are irrational.
Proudly Closed-Minded Gun Control Foes © (who I can separate from the majority of good, reasonable, law-abiding gun owners) brook no deviation for their interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. Intellectually and morally dishonest, they believe (with nothing to substantiate their conviction) the 2nd Amendment provides them the God-given right to carry anything, anywhere, anytime, and for any reason. To, Proudly Closed-Minded Gun Control Foes ©, the 2nd Amendment is absolute and inviolate. Those Liberal pussies with the temerity to question that view are treasonous America-haters worthy only of paying the ultimate price for their treason.
The only question I’d want to ask of Cohn is which well-regulated militia he belongs to. If he’s so strongly committed to the preservation of the 2nd Amendment as it was originally written, he can’t simply choose to ignore the first 13 words while exalting the last 14. Selective interpretation only serves to demonstrate what a self-absorbed soulless walking meat sack he is. While innocents continue to be randomly and senselessly slaughtered nationwide, all Cohn and his fellow travelers care about are their precious gun rights. Thus it will remain until Cohn and those like him have to bury one of their own after a mass shooting. Until then mass murder will remain an abstract concept, and Cohn and his comrades will continue to pretend that senseless, random bloodshed is merely the cost of freedom.
