If brains were dynamite, blowing their noses would prove a challenge for these mental midgets

This isn’t exactly breaking news, but I’ve had a long-standing fascination with human stupidity. It can be astonishing and truly, deeply disturbing to visit some of the vacant, mind-numbingly stoopid things people convince themselves is true.

Then again, opponents of the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance just achieved a “victory” by pushing the lie that passing HERO would allow disturbed men into women’s restroom. Truth, a functional intellect, and integrity are evidently the first casualties in an election. That 62% of those who voted in Houston were willing to swallow without question shameless propaganda and disinformation speaks to the astonishing depth and breadth of human stupidity.

I could choose to be angered by the sort of truly, deeply stupid people with axes to grind- and I’d be justified- but there’s enough bad blood in this world as it is. Instead, I’ve chosen to milk this subject for whatever giggles and mirth can be squeezed out of it. May you “enjoy” this as much as I do.

Anti-abortion activist insists Planned Parenthood encourages teens to have sex with animals

Imagine hating something with such blind fury and intensity, and wanting so badly for it to disappear that you’d do, say, or believe virtually anything you think would bring your desired end closer to fruition. That said, it doesn’t mean you get to push a narrative so thoroughly dishonest and detached from reality that even your ideological peers call you on your overcooked ignorance. Say hello to Carol Everett, today’s exercise in self-parody.

If you can without a trace of irony or hyperbole allow the following to leave your lips: “All sorts of abortion providers are behind it. Planned Parenthood and others…I am saying that they have a website that actually encourages sex with animals,” you’ve truly established an entirely new threshold of crazy. Never mind that nowhere on Planned Parenthood’s website is there anything to be found that comes close to substantiating Everett’s ridiculous, contemptible assertion. Somewhere in her pea-sized hate-addled brain, her reality center has been overwhelmed by irrationality and dishonesty.

I understand that Everett is a committed anti-abortion activist and someone who will do and/or say whatever she thinks will allow her to achieve her desired end. Then again, Everett has also equated having multiple sexual partners to rape. The challenges would seem to lie in NOT calling her sanity and intellect (or lack of same) into question.

I know; repeat after me: WTF???

Anti-Muslim militia warns against refugee invasion at Idaho statehouse: ‘This isn’t some made-up crap!’

As much as I respect Brandon Curtiss’ right to free speech and expression…yeah, his foaming at the mouth really is over “some made-up crap.” The idea that a few hundred refugees fleeing war-torn Syria can’t be accommodated because ISIS might have planted sleeper terrorists in the mix is, while not completely ridiculous, pretty damned close. The problem is that Curtiss and his 3% Idaho group runs on anger, hatred, defaulting to assuming the worst, and what appears to be a complete absence of compassion and human kindness.

If Curtiss and his followers aren’t walking, talking advertisements for being forcibly and heavily sedated, I don’t know who would be.

3% Idaho has been categorized (accurately) as a hate group, but that doesn’t begin to fully outline some of the things members believe. Like that the 2nd Amendment provides the authority to rescind unsatisfactory election results via armed revolt. Or that the White majority is actually being victimized by minorities, refugees, and the Liberal elite. I could go on, but you get the point. When you believe that being White means you- and ONLY you- are entitled to rule this world, by force of arms is necessary…well, why do we need a Constitution?

As for the anger, xenophobia, and hatred…man, these folks are in desperate need of some SERIOUS professional help, knowhutimean??

Oregon County Passes Measure Directing Sheriff To Block State And Federal Gun Laws

One of the things that holds together the rule of law in this country is the idea that Americans simply don’t get to pick and choose which laws they’ll obey. No one gets to deem a law inconvenient and therefore are within their right to ignore it. To allow that sort of self-interested moral and legal relativism would be to invite chaos. It’s called “nullification,” and it’s a time-honored tactics of Far Right zealots who believe the government is A) out of control, B) on the verge of tyranny, C) about to allow the Green Bay Packers to win another Super Bowl, or D) some or all of the above.

The Supreme Court long ago slapped down nullification as a valid legal maneuver, meaning that ALL Americans are equally subject to the same laws…and equally subject to the consequences that flow from violating them.

The “2nd Amendment Preservation Ordinance” was passed by 61% of Coos County voters, most of whom clearly slept through their high school civics classes. That 61% of voters are telling the county sheriff to determine which state and/or federal laws violate the Holy, God-ordained right of Americans to bear arms of any sort anywhere, anytime, and for any reason is ridiculous enough. That the law contains a provision allowing for county employees who run afoul of the “2nd Amendment Preservation Ordinance” to be fined $2000 takes if from the domain of the merely stupid straight to the realm of the sublime. 61% of Coos County voters have passed an ordinance requring county employees to determine which laws to disobey…and if they don’t disobey them to the satisfaction of Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes ©, their (likely meager) salary will take a substantial hit.

THIS is why there really ought to be an IQ test required of voters before being granted access to a voting booth. Good Lord, but people can be truly, deeply, dangerously stupid….
