Love takes no effort. Hate is hard work.

Fear is an understandable reaction, especially in the wake of a horrific, unexplainable event with mass casualties. Not knowing where/when/if another attack may happen can be terrifying. That said, fear need not drive us to internalize the belief that, since we don’t know where and when the next attack might come from, we must be afraid of everything and everyone who may be different.

Fearing all Muslims is nonsensical, like believing malted milk balls cause cancer or that the Green Bay Packers aren’t the source of evil and malevolence. It also flies in the face of reason; the most significant terrorist threat we face isn’t even from wild-eyed radical Islamofascists; it’s from angry Conservative White Christian males. Then again, it’s easier to demonize people we can differentiate because they don’t look like us. If we have to fear those who look like us, we’d all have to carry guns and…well, that’s another conversation best left for another time.

My point is that we’re Americans; we saved the world from Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. We won the Cold War. NOW we’re going to cower at the thought that those who look and worship differently are threats to us…even when they aren’t? Really? How is it we can save the world and yet don’t have the courage and fortitude to rescue ourselves from fear and ignorance?

We’re better than this…aren’t we??

Trump floats immediate end to Muslim immigration until we ‘can figure out what is going on’: How about we put an end to Conservative White Christian male until we “can figure out what is going on?” Oh, wait…they’re already here.

Ben Carson tries to one-up Trump: Every visitor to US should ‘register and be monitored’: How about we start with every GOP Presidential candidate first?

Syrian refugees who sparked concerns after showing up at Texas border are Christians: Wow, it’s a good thing Gov. Abbott is so fired up about protecting good, God-fearing Texans from those evil Christian terrorists, eh?

Texans sit in silence as Muslim women face racism at Austin cafe: ‘Have the humanity to acknowledge it’: Standing up for those experiencing personal harassment isn’t just a good idea; it’s what differentiates humans from animals.

This Neo-Nazi Response To Donald Trump’s Anti-Muslim Plan Says It All: White makes right…so says the bulk of Trump’s supporters.

The GOP’s mass shooting hypocrisy is fueling its cancerous rage: If it wasn’t for rage and hatred, Republicans would have nothing to offer.

Chicago trans man gets threatened at gunpoint and called ISIS member by raging Fox News fan: Better to be thought a fool than to use a gun to prove your manhood and remove all doubt.

“People are armed to the hilt”: Inside the paranoid right-wing reality—where terrorists are literally everywhere: These reprobates fear “Islamic terrorism” as if it was imminent, when the real terrorist threat comes from Conservative White Christian males. How can you fear people when they look like you?

Gun-Obsessed GOP State Rep in Nevada Threatens Syrian Refugees: ‘I’m About to Fly to Paris and Shoot ‘em in the Head Myself’: Because MOR GUNZ!!! can only make America MOR SAFER!!! Not to mention significantly stoopider than yer average bear.

Right-wing trolls are going ballistic: Why Rush Limbaugh & co. are freaking out about hate crimes: With hatred and misinformation, Limbaugh wouldn’t have a career.

Muslim fever goes viral: After Paris and San Bernardino, Islam-bashing is back and bigger than ever: It’s SO much easier to hate and demonize those you can’t be bothered to understand, eh?
