Mansplaining the importance of the 2nd Amendment

Appearing on The View this week (as most politicians do), Rand Paul was asked to explain his defense of semi-automatic weapons in the face of their perpetual use as murder tools. In his condescending comparison for the ladies, Paul explains that regulating the use and sale of firearms would be tantamount to the president unilaterally censoring speech: “Let’s say we had a terrible president that you didn’t like from another party and that president said, The View, oh you should hear the things they’re saying on The View! We should limit their speech, we should register the journalists, and then we should have an approval board…and that’s silly! We would all be opposed to that… but that’s the danger of letting a president make the rules.

Like most Republicans who’ve decided the road to the White House is best traveled in the company of Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes ©, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Cloudcuckooland) believes that he knows best why the 2nd Amendment is so vital. During his recent turn on The View, he decided to break it down for the ladies, who (in his mind, at least) were struggling with understanding why “gun rights” means ANY type of firepower, ANY time, ANYWHERE, and for ANY reason.

Because freedom…and Jesus, don’tchaknow??

Without the unfettered freedom to bear arms sanctioned by the 2nd Amendment, Real Americans © wouldn’t be able to prevent a tyrannical government bent on controlling every aspect of our lives and curtailing our freedoms in ever more cynical and despotic fashion. Without the freedom currently afforded Real Americans © to carry AR-15s and AK-47s in malls, coffee shops, and airports, who KNOWS what sort of threats to our freedom might be conjured up by The Black Guy in the White House © and his jackbooted thugs?

Sure, there’s the occasional mass shooting, and innocent people perish…but look on the bright side! Freedom ALWAYS comes with a price. It’s never free or easy, and if little Johnny has to die horribly in a hail of bullets for my right to walk into a Starbucks with an AR-15 over my shoulder, that’s just watering the tree of liberty, no?

Besides, IF we have a terrible (e.g.- African-American, Democrat) President bent on curtailing our hard-won freedoms, we NEED and MUST be able to rise up to protect America from such tyranny.

Or something like that.
