The Right-wing media: Where facts are optional and racism is a recurring theme

Earlier today, Obama shed some tears in a rare display of emotion while discussing the child victims of the Newtown massacre. Naturally, the tear truthers are already coming out in droves…. And if you were wondering which part of Obama’s tears were the fascist part, Breitbart.com writer and racist chain letter come-to-life John Nolte was more than happy to clarify on Twitter.

Sometimes, when I try to understand differing points of view, I try to see things from the perspective of someone who doesn’t think like I do. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. And sometimes, you find out that you really, really don’t want to be in someone’s head for ANY length of time.

It can be challenging when you come across people who for whatever reason are completely devoid of compassion and simple human decency. They live to assume the worst of those who don’t look, act, or believe as they do, and they have no problem with engaging in character assassination of the vilest sort…because nothing is beyond the pale in service of their agenda.

The President gave a heartfelt speech in which he appeared legitimately moved to tears when discussing the toll gun violence continues to take on our country. Almost immediately, the haters and InfoWars addicts were on the case in the belief that The Black Guy in the White House © artificially created the waterworks through nefarious means. Because he’s just that diabolical and truly hates America Just. That. Much.

It seems that nothing this President does can’t be parsed for evil intent. It gets pretty ridiculous sometimes, like the talking heads at Fox News Channels, who were genuinely perplexed that The Black Guy in the White House © would cry crocodile tears for murdered children, but not for terrorism.

Noted FNC shrew and Queen of the Dark Side Andrea Tantaros chimed in, saying she “would check that podium for like a raw onion or some no-more-tears. I mean, it’s not really believable.” What’s truly “not really believable” is that so many pundits on the Rabid Right seriously believed the President’s tear to be fake and that they were within their rights to expound on that belief at considerable length.

Personally, I could care less what trolls like Nolte or Tantaros think…about anything. What does bother me are the number of media “personalities” who believe their position provides them a pass when it comes to slandering and disparaging the President. They freely subject The Black Guy in the White House © to the sort of vile disrespect they’d never countenance were someone to direct the same at them.

As difficult as it is to fathom, too many Americans get their news and information from Right-wing news outlets whose pundits and talking heads have free reign to openly disrespect the President.

Greetings from our new idiocracy, eh?
