A director for the American Family Association (AFA) says it’s sending men into the women’s restrooms at Target stores to test its barriers after the retail giant announced that its facilities will be transgender friendly. Sandy Rios, the director of government affairs for the AFA, revealed her group’s agenda in a radio interview Monday. Speaking on “Breitbart News Daily,” Rios said the group’s concerned that women and children could be victimized by men who enter female restrooms while falsely claiming to be transgender…. “The chief concern, even more than just, I think, trauma, certainly for little girls of having men dressed like women coming in their bathrooms, the chief concern of the American Family Association is the predators who will take advantage,” she said.
There’s so much that so, so completely and thoroughly wrong with this sorry saga. Never mind that the American Family Association (AFA) is as much about “family” as Sandy Rios is about the teachings of Jesus Christ. This controversy about who gets to use which restroom is just about the silliest thing imaginable. Have none of the good, God-fearing, Bible-believing, moral midgets at AFA never used a Porta-Potty in a park or at an outdoor concert? Those things have been gender-neutral since before anyone even began exercising brain cells over what that even means.
Sometimes I wonder if any of these self-professed “Christians” have ever bothered to stop and think about what their obsession with bathrooms have to do with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I don’t remember any of my Sunday School classes ever addressing which bathrooms “good” Christians could use. I remember learning about Jesus’ teachings concerning love, acceptance, tolerance, and inclusion…but not about ensuring that transgender individuals aren’t allowed to pee in public restrooms.
Now AFA has decided to “test” Target by sending men into women’s restrooms? Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t they guilty of doing the very same thing they’ve been waxing self-righteous about wanting to prevent?
I find myself wondering if AFA has any idea what their obsession with protecting the “sanctity” of restrooms says about them and their sick, authoritarian theology? No reasonable, rational Christian would waste brain cells on the biological reality that transgender individuals occasionally have to pee and…OMIGAWD, THEY MIGHT BE USING THE STALL NEXT TO MY PRECIOUS SNOWFLAKE!!! WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN???
Honestly, I think children will be just fine; it’s the adults who seriously need to grow up and stop getting up in everyone else’s business. If this is in ANY way about the teachings of Jesus Christ, I’m the Queen of Denmark.
