Last week, Dr. Jerry Johnson of the National Religious Broadcasters guest-hosted the Family Research Council’s radio program “Washington Watch” and spent the entire time railing against facility access for transgender students. One caller, Patsy, chimed in to say that it is no wonder President Obama has taken a stance in favor of nondiscrimination policies since the president “is a sexual deviant and Michelle Obama is a transvestite.”…. “Why can’t people get the facts?” the caller asked.
One of the truly beautiful and precious things about the 1st Amendment is that, while it guarantees the freedom of speech and expression, it doesn’t warrant that said free speech and expression won’t be thoroughly and completely brain-dead and devoid of any redeeming value. I’ve often said that free speech can be, and very often is, repulsive and objectionable speech. This is why and how “Patsy” gets to spew her bile to anyone who provides her a forum to do so.
Of course, if you’re a member of the American Taliban and you count as part of your core constituency fact-free haters and bigots with at best a tenuous grip on reality, you can’t claim to be surprised when things occasionally get out of hand.
ANYTHING hosted by the Family Research Council (Tony Perkins’ faux-Christian hate group) is virtually guaranteed to have at least a few barely lucid fringe personalities lolling about…and Patsy certainly fits the bill.
When you decide to wallow in the mud with pigs, you don’t get to complain when you- as you inevitably will- end up dirty and smelling like hog slop.
Oh…and didja know that Michelle Obama is a secret transgender…and that she had to murder Joan Rivers in order to keep news of her secret penis from being leaked to the press? Alex Jones told me so.
