And Jesus said, "Let there be hate." And it was good.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) has stepped up Texas’ campaign against transgender students. Following the multi-state lawsuit Texas filed against the federal government last week, Patrick is now working to make sure transgender students in Texas receive no accommodations at school in the meantime. At a press conference on Tuesday, Patrick announced that he will explicitly oppose the Obama administration’s guidance urging schools to respect trans students’ identities. “I will be sending a letter to every superintendent in the state of Texas,” he said, “letting them know that they should not move forward on the President’s guidelines.”…. Moreover, Patrick is actually hoping to force schools to defy the guidance. He also announced that he is asking Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) — who filed the lawsuit against the federal government — to review whether Fort Worth Independent School District’s trans-inclusive policy violates state law.

As anti-Christian and Patrick efforts, I’m not here to doubt his faith…such as it is. I’m sure he believes himself to sit at the right hand of God and that’s he’s WAY more holy that other mere, lesser mortals. He probably has weekly conference calls with the Almighty, who instructs him on who he should be focusing on smacking down.

Bully for him, for he’s a bully.

I have to think that somewhere in Patrick’s heart of stone, there’s a shred of compassion remaining for those who don’t think, believe, live, and/or loves as he does. His hateful homophobia and Christian bigotry have nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus Christ. I don’t even believe in Patrick’s personal Lord and Savior…and even I know he’s full of shit. That observation has nothing to do with his faith. It has everything to do with his being a hate-filled ambulatory meat sack consumed by hatred, homophobia and the desire to provide his crusade with the patina of righteousness.

Patrick’s hypocrisy (besides the requisite epic lack of self-awareness) lies in his denunciation of the perceived unmitigated evil behind the federal government instructing schools to allow transgender student to use the restroom corresponding to their gender identity. Evidently, to his way of thinking, treating all students with dignity and respect is NOT what Jesus commands Texas public schools to do. No, the Prince of Peace (Patrick’s version, at least) is pretty firm on the proposition that boys are boys and girls are girls…and no one should mess with that truth.

Patrick is incensed at the federal government’s involvement in the issue of who gets to use what restroom…but he has no problem with the state’s intrusion in such a private matter. So much for “smaller government.”

It’s too bad that Patrick is unable to bring the same amount of righteous fervor to issues that really matter- like child abuse, education, and health care, to name but a few. Then again, he undoubtedly recognizes that he’ll score far more political points by tearing a minority group down than building things up. It’s what the American Taliban is all about, and Dan Patrick is Texas’ High Priest of hatred.
