Talk-radio host and author of racist tomes Laura Ingraham told listeners on Wednesday that they will have to wear diapers and soil themselves in public if they don’t want to share restrooms with trans men and women…. “Everyone’s bathroom is just their own clothes, OK? So this is what we’re going to go to,” Ingraham said, according to Media Matters…. “I think a lot of people are going to be walking around with just Depends on from now on. They’re just not going to use the bathroom,” said during her daily broadcast. She continued, “Adult diapers, diapers for everybody. No one’s going to be going to the bathroom. You have little kids, there’s going to be no bathrooms. We’re just going to all wear Depends. Everyone will just be happy. Then you’ll be in your own bathroom. Everyone’s bathroom is just their own clothes, OK? So this is what we’re going to go to.”
Every now and again I run across something so astonishingly, mind-numbingly, unbelievably ignorant and offensive that it renders me something close to speechless. Then I remember it’s Laura Ingraham and I realize she’s just doing what she does- spreading hatred, bigotry, and Right-wing propaganda…in just about the most ignorant, offensive, and ridiculous manner imaginable. She’s not stupid, not by a long shot…though she does a mean impression of someone with a double-digit IQ and an absence of a functional grip on reality. When you do a Google search for the definition of “irrational, unfounded hatred of what you can’t be bothered to understand,” I suspect you’ll see a headshot of Ingraham.
I have no problem with the idea that Ingraham evidently believes transgenders to be Satan’s minions. She’s wrong, of course, but in a free country she’s free to her opinion- however ignorant, insulting, and thoroughly ridiculous it may be. Her latest attempt at garnering the media spotlight is…well, I don’t have a word beyond “ridiculous” at the moment.
“I think a lot of people are going to be walking around with just Depends on from now on. They’re just not going to use the bathroom”. Think about that for a moment and allow the sheer immaturity and ridiculousness of that pronouncement wash over you. Then ask yourself how truly and completed addled and blinded by hatred and bigotry one has to be in order to seriously propose adults wear diapers instead of using restrooms for their intended purpose.
You know, I could go on at some considerable length about how thoroughly immature and intolerant Ingraham is on this issue…but I really think her suggestion (and the accompanying mental imagery) speaks for itself.

So this is what passes for legitimate, reasoned discourse among Conservatives these days? Wow. Just…wow.
