Game 7: Wild stuns Vancouver 4-2
The Minnesota Wild last night became the first time in NHL history to overcome TWO 3-1 deficits in the same playoff year. The fact that they did it against two of the leagues best teams- Colorado and Vancouver- is remarkable enough. That they won each Game 7 ON THE ROAD is almost unbelievable.
Of course, it's not as if the Wild have much of an opportunity to celebrate and rest on their laurels. Anaheim comes to St. Paul tomorrow night for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Anaheim and Minnesota? To determine who moves on to play for the Stanley Cup? How many of us would have put money on this matchup back in October? If you have your hand up, you're lying....
OK, so they're not my late, great North Stars, and they have the worst nickname (and the ugliest road uniforms) in professional sports (Wild? Wild WHAT??). Still, the Wild play their home games about 5 miles from where I went to college, so I'm thinking I'll be jumping on the Wild's bandwagon (actually, I've been there for awhile now). Yep, I know what I'll be doing Saturday night. And this time, if there is a Game 7, it will be in St. Paul.
Game on, eh?? Let the fun begin....
(Bonus Question: What in the hell is a Mighty Duck anyway?? What, the Fighting Scones had already been taken by another team?)
