Just in case any of y'all were wondering why Gray Davis is facing a recall election, this might help clue you in:
SACRAMENTO - A motorcade driving Gov. Gray Davis to Los Angeles was clocked going 94 mph by a Highway Patrol officer who pursued the cars for five miles until members of the governor's security detail identified themselves, sources said Friday.
The chase occurred last Saturday on a two-lane portion of Highway 46 in San Luis Obispo County known as "Blood Alley'' because at least 29 people have died from traffic accidents there since 1998. Movie actor James Dean was killed on the same stretch in 1955 when his race car crashed.
Thanks for setting an example there, Governor....
Whatever Davis' policy missteps may be, the man clearly seems to have lost touch with the people who elected him as Governor. As a loyal Democrat and hater of all things Republican, I hate to see California running the risk of going over to the Dark Side. Even so, Davis needs to go. California needs someone who will not view the state as his personal fiefdom.
Besides, any election with Larry Flynt as a candidate can only be hugely entertaining, right?
