One of the things that apparently went on without me....
While I've been somewhat distracted over the past week, the world has apparently been carrying on without me. Whodathunkit?? Here's a random collection of some of the madness I've missed out on:
- Suit filed to block removal of Ten Commandments: Since when does this pseudo-controversy have ANYTHING to do with religion? No matter what anyone in the state of Alabama may think, this waste of time, energy, and money is about one thing and one thing only: the self-aggrandizement of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore. A question to all y'all in Alabama: have ANY of you ever even READ the US Constitution in school? Or did they just skip the part about the separation of church and state?
- Suit demands removal of Bible monument near courthouse: Of course, we are on the verge of the same sort of Fundamentalist madness here in Houston. Apparently, intolerance and ignorance of the Constitution is not an Alabama-specific phenomenon.
- Political battle looms over obesity: Hmm...us Liberals are apparently convinced that the food industry and advertisers who essentially force-feed Americans high-fat and empty calorie foods. Conservatives have a much simpler explanation: You're fat? Your fault. So much for Compassionate Conservatism, eh??
- Blonde jokes to be made illegal in Bosnia: Well, now that Serbs and Muslims are no longer lobbing mortar shells at one another, I suppose someone has to keep the silliness in motion....
- Beaufort County district limits poor grades: Failure is not an option- especially if you rig the system so that no one CAN fail.
- The Engineer’s Guide to Romance: First, lose the pocket protector. Then...ah, hell, why are you asking me??
- Jury: Judge offered light sentences for sex: And now he gets to be someone's girlfriend for a few years. Who says justice isn't poetic, eh??
- Espresso tax worth a shot? Man, it must suck to live in Seattle these days. What next- taxes on alcohol and cigarettes??
- '100 women' Web scheme raises questions. 'No name' actors' headshots sold online: And still no naked pictures of Ann Coulter to be found anywhere.
- Suspect planned ex-priest's killing for weeks: Gee, and John Geoghan seemed like such a nice child molester....
- No end in sight to redistricting fight: Yep, the pissing contest that is redistricting continues unabated. I would have hoped that perhaps the Republicans may have come to their senses. Then again, this IS Rick Perry (Governor Goodhair) and Tom DeLay (Evil Incarnate) that we're talking about here. What a waste....
