Another DUMASS AWARD wiener

Perry parks in handicap spot (thanks, Michael!!)

DUMASS AWARD wiener #46: Texas Gov. Rick Perry

Being a Liberal in a Republican stronghold like Texas, one grows accustomed to the callous disregard that compassion-impaired Republican powerbrokers are wont to display. Governor Goodhair is certainly no exception to this rule. So what if some actually HANDICAPPED driver might have needed the parking spot? The Guv was busy doing the Lord's...er, the People's...ah, hell, why am I giving him the benefit of the doubt? The man's got the intellectual candlepower of an expired D-cell battery anyway, and he was abusing the power of his office. Yeah, like THAT'S never happened before....

AUSTIN -- Gov. Rick Perry's black Suburban sat in a handicapped spot for about 40 minutes Wednesday while he filed paperwork to place President Bush on the Texas ballot for the Republican primary.

"It was a handicapped spot," Perry spokeswoman Kathy Walt confirmed. "It was an honest mistake and unintentional. No one saw the sign."

She said the vehicle carrying the governor, his driver and three staffers was parked in the spot on Congress Avenue about two blocks from the Texas Capitol.

Walt said the security detail confirmed that the sign was off to the left of the parking spot, about 6 feet from the ground.

"We take full responsibility for it," she said, adding that the vehicle was not ticketed. "We'll donate the equivalent of the parking sign to a charity for persons with disabilities."

Of course, if you or I had parked in that spot, we would have been ticketed and towed- and deservedly so. So how does our sorry excuse for a Governor and his security detail get away with this? It's easy, really- being a powerful Republican DUMASS means never having to say you're sorry. It apparently also means that you are above the law. Jeez, maybe I'll run for Governor...no, wait- I've already done that, haven't I?

Sadly, this isn't the first time that Governor Goodhair has shown a callous disregard for the law. From his point of view, it seems to be one of the perks of the office. What a maroon....
