I am a proud member of a small fraternity. Yes, I am one of the troglodytes who refuses to breed out of reasons of pure selfishness and self-interest. Not only am I open and honest about my lack of parental desire, I am proud of it. Of course, this hardly explains why I now have two stepsons, but I am full of nothing if not contradictions. Just ask my wife.
I also said that I would have all of my children vicariously, unless I could discover a way to have a child that was born 18 years old and three days away from leaving for college in Nova Scotia. Thanks to Andy Yates for giving voice to a rational for avoiding parenthood.
Apologies to those who are not familiar with the daily adventures of being a parent, although this should serve as a warning to those considering becoming one.
