Top 10 Playoff Chokes: Past 25 Years [Bills 41, Oilers 38 (OT) AFC Wild Card (1/3/93)]
OK, so this one is something of a sore spot around our house. I was still living in Portland when the Oilers went tits-up against Buffalo, but I remember watching the game and laughing my @$$ off. There was no way- NO WAY- that a playoff team would blow a 35-3 lead in the third quarter…right??? Not exactly….
Of course, in the interest of fairness, I should mention that the Minnesota Vikings were #3 on this list for their 30-27 implosion against Atlanta in the 1999 NFC Championship. Gary #$%^&* Anderson, 45-for-45 on field goals for the season, misses his only #$%^&* field goal of the year, and it just happens to be the one that denies them a trip to the #$%^&* Super Bowl…and no, I’m NOT #$%^&* bitter….
Then again, the Vikings didn’t blow a 35-3 third-quarter lead…he said, snickering to himself….
