Inquiring minds want to know

Readers emailing me is not exactly a new phenomenon, but now I have readers calling me on my cell phone. Man, it’s fun when you strike a nerve, isn’t it??

Don called me late yesterday afternoon with some interesting information. He told me that he’d heard thatTom DeLay had been at a fundraiser here in Clear Lake over the weekend when he “got religion” and decided to resign. I don’t know whether this is true or not, but it certainly makes for a good story, and since ths is the Internet, it doesn’t necessarily have to be factual to be true, right?? ;p)

If there is one person here in the Bay Area who knows what’s happening politically, it’s John Cobarruvias. So, in an attempt to do at least a minimum of fact-checking, I emailed him last night. John confirms at least the basic outline of this story, although he doesn’t yet have any of the details. He’s fairly well connected to the political pulse of the Bay Area, so if something is taking place or has already happened, John normally either knows about it or is in the middle of it.

It appears that SOMETHING may well have happened over the weekend. Anyone have any ideas or information? Bueller? I’d be very interested to know what, if anything, took place, and if that had any impact on DeLay’s dropping out of the CD-22 race. If no one knows, I’ll just apply the normal Internet journalistic standards and make $#!& up out of whole cloth.

DELAY CAUGHT BUGGERING SUPPORTER’S GOLDEN RETRIEVER, DROP OUT OF CD-22 RACE TO SAVE FACE AND PROTECT DOG’S IDENTITY!!! FILM AT 11!!!!

Hey, like you can prove me wrong?? If you can’t nail down the truth, the next best thing is to make $#!& up, no?
