Gee, I might not have known otherwise

The Decider Decides who won Lebanese Conflict

Mr. Preznit put on his Decidin’ cap and pronounced Israel the victor quicker than you can say ‘Mission Accomplished”.

You know, until Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader told us, I had NO idea that Israel won the war in Lebanon. Thank God for his bold and prescient leadership, otherwise I might STILL be watching Fox News Channel trying to puzzle out the winners and losers. Now I no longer have to wonder, because I’ve been told what to think.

President Bush, just hours after a cease-fire took hold Monday, said Hezbollah guerillas had suffered a sound defeat at the hands of Israel in their monthlong Mideast war.

“There’s going to be a new power in the south of Lebanon,” Bush said, referring to plans for the Lebanese government, backed by an international force, to reassert control in the area that has been dominated by Hezbollah fighters.

Uh…I can’t help but wonder if Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader has ANY idea of which he speaks? I mean, has he SEEN the Lebanese Army? I know the guys mean well and try hard, but the Lebanese Army is really a threat only to itself. Not only has the Lebanese government had no presence or authority in the southern third of the country for years, but the Army’s TOE (table of organization and equipment) is circa 1975. Most of their equipment looks as if it was confiscated from the North Vietnamese Army. They have little in the way of armor, no discernable artillery capabilities, and their ground forces…well, let’s just say that my Basic Training platoon could have backed them into a corner in relatively short order. How The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight is supposed to enforce anything resembling peace in southern Lebanon is beyond me.

Interesting, isn’t it, how Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader is all hot to trot for peace in Lebanon, and yet the meatgrinder that is the war in Iraq continues without missing a beat? I guess we have to stay the course…whatever the Hell that means….
