Man...talk about cruel and unusual punishment

Saddam’s cartoon capers

Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein is being made to watch his appearance in cult cartoon South Park while he is behind bars. The deposed leader on trial in Iraq was featured in the movie spin-off as the lover of the devil. South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut featured Hussein and Satan attempting to take over the world together. Speaking at the Edinburgh International Television Festival, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone said US Marines guarding the former dictator during his trial for genocide were making him watch the movie “repeatedly”.

While politicians and legal scholars the world over are debating what the proper punishment for Saddam Hussein should be, it would seems that some enterprising Marines have already settled that argument…and in doing so, they’ve scored major points for creativity.

When Manuel Noriega was holed up in Panama during the American invasion some years back, US PsyOps personnel repeatedly played Van Halen’s “Panama” at ear-splitting volume. Jeez, no wonder the poor despot surrendered, eh? Now Saddam Hussein is facing a similar fate, and I’m guessing he’s not a big fan. THIS is why the US military is the strongest and most formidable fighting force in the world.
