Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

WH: bin Laden Capture “A Success That Hasn’t Occured Yet”

Five years after the Sept. 11 attacks, Osama bin Laden is still at large — but that’s not a failure of White House policy, says Frances Fragos Townsend. As she explained to CNN’s White House correspondent Ed Henry last night:

HENRY: You know, going back to September 2001, the president said, dead or alive, we’re going to get him. Still don’t have him. I know you are saying there’s successes on the war on terror, and there have been. That’s a failure.

TOWNSEND: Well, I’m not sure — it’s a success that hasn’t occurred yet. I don’t know that I view that as a failure.

DUMB@$$ AWARD wieners #502: Frances Fragos Townsend

One of the things that most angers me about the Shining, Happy People who populate BushWorld is their insistence on spinning the most abject of failures into something “positive”. White House Press Secretary Tony Snow is the worst of the lot, but coming in a close second is White House Homeland Security Adviser Frances Frago Townsend, whose natural talents as a spinmeister and master propagandist would make Josef Goebbels blush.

I find it interesting that Townsend can spin Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader’s © lack of interest in and commitment to capturing Osama bin-Laden as a good thing just waiting to happen. Surely she can’t believe the crap that is coming out of her mouth? Of course, with that sweet smile and her face and that come-hither look, it’s clear that she can’t imagine what the American sheeple wouldn’t believe her.

Then again, I do, in a sick sort of way, have to admire her ability to rhetorically turn what can only be described as utter, abject failure into a success just looking and waiting for a place to happen. Failure is not an option…and it need not be, not when Fran Townsend is around to reassure us.

If you think about it, and I’m not at all certain that I want to, Townsend may have unknowingly opened our eyes to seeing things in a whole new (and more positive) light. In the words of one commenter:

So many possibilities here:

It’s not bankruptcy, just financial growth that hasn’t occurred yet.

It’s not illness, just health that hasn’t flourished yet.

It’s not stupidity, just intelligence that hasn’t developed yet.

It’s not civil war, it’s just democracy that hasn’t taken hold yet.

It’s not HIV/AIDS, it’s God’s punishment of Gays and their aberrant, sinful lifestyle.

It’s not a theocracy, it’s Compassionate Conservatism © .

It’s not a strip search, just an investment in Homeland Security.

It’s not impugning the patriotism of Liberals and Democrats, just the exposing of America-hating pussies who would probably be better off living in France.

Man, if you listen to Townsend (instead of fantasizing about her naked), you’d think that if we’d all believe just a little bit harder, then everything would be OK. If we would just trust the instincts of Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © then America would be a safer and happier place…a Shining City on a Hill, if you will. First, though, we have to BELIEVE, because if we don’t BELIEVE, then all those negative thoughts will come flooding back in…and the terrorists will win.

It will be a great day when all we have to do is think about voting Republican and fantasize about Fran Townsend in all her naked glory, eh? DUMB@$$? What DUMB@$$??
