Nancy Grace Boosts Headline News Ratings, Puts Humanity At Risk For Evil Overload
Sure, she’s insulted kidnapping victims, joked (presumably) about firing staffers on-air, harassed distraught mothers and even been sued for allegedly contributing to guest Melinda Duckett’s suicide. But it was all for the sake of justice! (Though, of course, those ratings and PR boosts didn’t hurt). The Chicago Tribune reports that Nancy Grace and her network, Headline News, have seen a substantial rise in ratings, due in large part to Grace’s increasing popularity (or, at least, her viewership anyway). In the past two years, Grace has honed her fire and brimstone diatribes and guilty-until-proven-innocent antics into a full blown high-profile bonanza, with the ratings pouring in as a result. Her network has subsequently blossomed into a significant money maker for CNN, bringing in $150 million in revenue
It would difficult to underestimate how little former DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener and general, all-around blowhard Nancy Grace has to add to the general public discourse…about anything. A supposed law and order fanatic, Grace seems more concerned about her own self-aggrandizement and self-promotion than anything else. Opinionated and cocksure, Grace is the ultimate and only authority in her narrow little world. She KNOWS the truth, even if the rest of us mere mortals aren’t smart enough to see it.
Of course, like most Right-wing know-it-alls, Grace is to truth and justice what Moqtada al-Sadr is to moderate, non-violent Islam. Between the maximum of conclusions drawn from a minimum of evidence and the absolutely unshakable certainty of her convictions, I have no idea what it is about Nancy Grace that manages to draw such a sizable audience. I suppose there really are large numbers of drooling sycophants out there just looking for someone to give them quick, simple, and certain answers. Life is messy and full of grey areas. Nancy Grace reduces life to absolute black and white certainties. It’s simplistic and silly, but it makes money, which in the end is really what matters. Truth? Justice? Yeah, right. It’s all about the Benjamins.
