Good riddance to an egregious waste of humanity

It was revealed today that Jerry Falwell HAD a heart.

It would be difficult for me to find the words to adequately describe the antipathy I feel towards Jerry Falwell. As a man who made the term “Christian” synonymous with “hateful, mouth-breathing xenophobes”, Falwell has much to answer for. Falwell was chief among those self-righteous, over-fed White men who feel that, because God allegedly speaks directly to them, it’s incumbent upon them to use God’s word to oppress those who don’t think, act, and believe as they do. That they’ve managed to enrich themselves along the way is no doubt purely coincidental.

Normally I’m loathe to take solace in the death of anyone, but for Jerry Falwell I will gladly make an exception. Falwell was as much about Christianity and the love of God as Ted Bundy was about long term relationships. Falwell’s God, a mean-spirited, vindicative son of a bitch, is apparently hard-wired to take retribution against those who do believe as the enlightened Brother Falwell did.

Falwell was, of course, free to believe as he saw fit. This is America, after all, and free speech can be (and all too often is) objectionable and offensive speech. And I’m just as free to express my desire to piss on his grave. What a tremendously sorry excuse for a human being. Judging by the parade of zealots, Republican Presidential candidates, and self-righteous Christians rushing to eulogize Jerry Falwell, the man’s ignorance, intolerance, and hate-based theology spread far and wide.

Good riddance. This world will be a better off without Jerry Falwell parading his self-righteous arrogance, hatred, and intolerance for all to see. If there’s a Hell, Falwell was probably comfortably ensconced there within 45 seconds after he took his last miserable breath. May he rot there.
