I wanted to take a moment to say a few words of thanks for the kind words left in the comments when I wrote about TPRS’ 6th anniversary on Monday. One of the things that happens with this weblog is that I often feel as if TPRS exists in a vacuum. I get up early, do my thing, and then I release it into the void, hoping that something will stick. Since I’ve not been able to find a reliable way of gauging readership, I have NO idea how many folks stop by here every day. Two? Two hundred? Twenty thousand? Hey, if anyone has any idea of how I can accurately track these numbers, I’m willing to listen. In the meantime, I’ll be grateful that there are actually still people out there paying attention. Whether there are five or 50,000 of you, I’m flattered and grateful than y’all seem to keep coming back. Most of you I’ll never meet, but I’m glad that you’re here. Over the past six years, we’ve had some interesting discussions and I’ve been able to vent on any number of different subjects. With my limited attention span, my focus tends to wander, and I get bored by concentrating on one subject to the exclusion of all else. Yes, I tend to write primarily about politics, because that’s where so much of my passion (and these days, anger) lies, but I’ve always prided myself on being a curious intellect. This means that what I may lack in focus I make up for in passion and curiosity. Hey, I’ve never claimed to possess the ability to narrowly focus on anything…and I’ve been proving that on a daily basis for the past six years. As many of y’all have suspected, I have the attention span of a 12-year-old boy with ADD.
I do plan on continuing my exploration of the human condition (and the humor/ignorance inherent in it) for as long as my interest holds out. This means that TPRS will likely be around for awhile, largely ignored, hopelessly obscure, and horribly inconsistent and unfocused, but no less committed to providing me with a forum with which to vent upon the unsuspecting public. Hey, it’s easier than becoming a heroin addict….
Thanks for being here. It’s always more fun when you know you have an audience!
