Bush: “I’m Sure People View Me As A War Monger”
In a rare and completely unexpected moment of candor and introspection, Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © conceded what’s been blindingly obvious to those with even half a brain for several years now. I suppose I should credit the man for displaying at least a modicum of intellectual honesty, but even this comes with a disclaimer:
I’m sure people view me as a war monger and I view myself as peacemaker….
Ah, it would seems that with candor also comes a healthy does of self-delusion. So killing 151,000 Iraqi civilians was actually SAVING them? From a fate worse than a violent, bloody death at the hands of thugs, and zealots? And an American President more concerned with his legacy than the fact that most of the civilized world considers him a war criminal? I’m not sure what could be worse, but I’m sure if those thousands of Iraqis were alive today, they’d be positively effusive with gratitude. Really. Or maybe not.
Soemtimes I wonder how the man can look at himself in the mirror and like what he sees. He’s not a mass murderer on the order of, say, Hitler or Stalin, but 151,000 dead Iraqis is 151,000 more than there really should be. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I knew that my decisions had led to the untimely, brutal deaths of untold thousands of innocent civilians. These are people who wanted nothing more than to be able to live their lives, enjoy their friends and families, and try to realize their dreams. Now many of them lie in unmarked graves, anonymous casualties of a senseless, immoral war. And this sorry excuse for a President and a human being sees himself as a peacemaker? Damn, I’d hate to see what the the Worst President EVER © might be capable of if he ever decided to become a war President. I have a feeling the Holocaust would look like a Sunday afternoon walking the back nine.
