Because it sure is a helluva more interesting than having a rational, reality-based debate

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Sean Hannity

But how did the food shortage become so acute so fast? The growing consensus is that the crop deficit is directly related to the increased demand for production of, quote, "earth friendly" bio fuels, an effort pushed by none other than the vanquished vice president Al Gore and all in the name of quote, "saving the planet."

It's SO much easier when you can lay blame for our problems at the feet of a single person isn't it? Especially when that person is an (gasp!) America-hatin' Librul beholden to al-Qaeda and the Nobel Prize Committee. Besides, it's so much easier to be able to blame a public servant that Fox News Channel has managed to turn into their own public whipping boy than to do the intellectual heavy lifting of trying to truly understand what's happening in our world.

If you have a strong stomach and a penchant for simple solutions (BURN THE WITCH!!!), you can try watching this. If not, grab your remote, turn off the televsion, and hug your kids; it's their world that's being thoroughly (&^%$# by the greed-friendly policies of the past eight years.

Al Gore is no more responsible for the current economic climate than I am. Gore wasn't in the White House making policy and taking care of his rich friends over the past eight years. Hannity's blaming an out-of power politician for the problems created by the current in-power crop of neoConservative thugs is just so much propaganda designed to stifle real debate. Then again, if you're watching Hannity, you probably have little interest in real, substantial debate, anyway.

Once upon a time, I'd hoped that the time might come when we could all come together and have a reasoned and rational discussion about our future and the world we want to hand over to our children. Sadly, it would appear that the Fox News generation has little interest in any discussion that doesn't involve blaming Liberals for all the world's ills.

By nature, I'm an optimistic and positive personality (though I've managed to keep it under wraps for the past few years), but it's difficult to maintain that optimism when all I see around me is propaganda and self-interest. I'd like to think that there's still a chance that we might be able to leave this world better than we found it, but when we can seriously blame public servants who are no longer even in power....
