Deja vu all over again...in Cleveland, of all places

schroeder.jpgAnother long days- airports, bad food, rental car, and, mercifully, a hotel. At least this time around, there's some good news. I'm at least in a Hilton. The bad news is that it's in Cleveland, and this will be home for the next three weeks.

Since I am here for three weeks (and because i volunteered for this), I'm not going to be engaging in any gratuitous Cleveland-bashing. No, it's not my favorite city- not by a long shot. There are a few dozen other places I'd rather find myself in for an extended period of time, but like anywhere, there are some good things here if you're willing to look hard enough. I've been here on enough business trips know my way around reasonably well, and there actually are some very good restaurants here. Rather than focus on why I don't want to be in Cleveland for three weeks, I'm going to find ways to make the most of it. The first one that comes to mind is the weather: when I left Portland this morning, it was 57 degress and raining. When I landed in Cleveland, it was 70 degrees and sunny. I was able to walk six miles in shirt sleeves once I got to my hotel. That was certainly a nice (and welcome) change.

I know I'm going to have at least one weekend day off, so I might make the 2 1/2 hour drive to Pittsburgh to catch a baseball game. Unfortunately, the Astros are going to be in town the middle of next week, so there goes that possibility. Still, that might just make one more ballpark I can cross off my list. If that doesn't work, I might just make the drive to Niagara Falls again.

Hey, I'm here; I might as well have some fun with it, eh??
