Only 23 percent of Americans said they approve of President Bush's job performance in a new Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg survey, which is a new low for him in that poll. Seventy-three percent of respondents said they disapproved of the job Bush is doing.
It would be nice to think that Americans have great expectations for their country and their leaders. After all, shouldn't the most powerful economic engine in the world have a right to expect leadership that brings out the best in America? Well, you'd think that we'd hold our leaders up to some high standards, but as it turns out, we're apparently OK with a dominionist theocrat who has difficult speaking in complete sentences...but no problems with using the politics of fear to stifle open and honest discussion. Making matters even worse is that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © was elected twice. The first time I can almost understand, but the second? After 9.11, when Americans were still nervous about the threat of terrorism, The Worst President EVER © and his neoConservative thugs manipulated this fear in order to avoid a legitimate debate and ensure that Americans were too frightened to change horsemen in the middle of an Apocalypse.
Somewhere, Josef Goebbels is smiling....
I don't know about you, but I want my country back. I'm not going to sit here and try to convince you that Sen. Barack Obama is the solution to all of our problems, but that fact that the man can speak in complete sentences and grasp complex ideas would in and of itself be a step in the right direction. The fact that he's not trading in fear-mongering should also tell you that things are going to be different this time around....and isn't it about time for a change??
