'Tis better to be thought a fool than to be Victoria Jackson and remove any lingering doubt

I don’t begrudge Victoria Jackson her religious and political beliefs, stupid and ill-informed though I believe them to be. This is America, where you’re free to believe whatever gives your life meaning and purpose. Unfortunately, Ms. Jackson long ago decided that wading in the shallow end of the gene pool was the way for her to go. That she’s absolutely, undeniably bat$#!% crazy would seem to confirm her preference for offending anyone and everyone not “enlightened” enough to share her beliefs. That she either lacks the self-awareness to recognize, or simply doesn’t care, that she has become an exercise in self-parody seems superfluous. Jackson has repeatedly proven herself ready, willing and exceptionally able to insult, demean and degrade anyone who calls the reality-based world “home.”

Victoria Jackson is as much a Christian as I’m next in line to be King of Sweden. True Christians don’t pour salt in the wounds of the those grieving the senseless loss of 26 innocents in a random school shooting. Christians don’t act as if their beliefs are absolute, inviolate, and unassailable. A true Christian would recognize that others who don’t share their beliefs are not lesser human beings worthy only of ridicule and destruction, merely human being who happen to think and believe differently. Those differences don’t diminish a person’s validity…except in the eyes of bigots and fools like Jackson.

I’m a strong believer in karma, and I sincerely believe that Jackson will gets hers. It’s not my place to determine when, where, or how, but the fact that she clearly cares nothing for the suffering of others is all I really need to know about her brand of “Christianity.” What saddens me is that what I hear coming from well-meaning, mainstream Christians in response is…crickets. I’d have a lot more respect for Christianity if those who honestly endeavor to lead a Christ-like life rebuked idiots like Victoria Jackson. The collective silence tells me that they either lack the courage to stand up to the idiots and the haters among them, or that they have no real problem with what she has to say. Either way, it’s a sad commentary on those who lack the moral courage of the Savior the profess to revere.
