1/3 of Americans support Christianity as official state religion, while 12% would like to re-enact the Crusades huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/06/chr…

Republicans, who hold absolute power in the North Carolina legislature, have shelved their plan to declare Christianity the state religion. Apparently, it’s taking all their energy to work towards passing a bill that would effective disenfranchise college students (they tend to vote Librul, don’tchaknow??), so voiding the separation of Church and State is just going to have to wait.
North Carolina, sadly, is merely a reflection of what’s becoming a growing trend. Thirty-four percent of Americans favor the idea of making Christianity the official state religion in their state. Even more disturbing is that 32% said that they favor a constitutional amendment that would make Christianity the official religion of the United States. Evidently, the idea of religious tolerance- never mind the separation of Church and State- is lost on fully one of three Americans.
Because state-sanctioned religion has worked SO well in places like Iran, f’rinstance….
It’s truly astonishing what a motley collection of brain-dead bipeds we Americans can be, isn’t it??
